…well for the selected few to start – aka for the humble abode of own, my NYC pied-à-terre to be exact.

It’s a “cozy” kind of place. Truly makes up for lack of space with a splash of character here and there. Hence, why not take the opportunity to customize a few things. And as many are already are aware of, I have a little thing known as a love for soft silky leather!

Process was by far a ‘learn as I go’ experience. Just the way I like it, throwing myself head first into the challenge. Watch as I turn IKEA into Sienna Ray with a few simple tools and a ton of patience:

modern monday: modern dining etiquette

Add a comment

3 important factors to good etiquette: phone, social graces, and conversation topics. Boarding school nailed proper dining etiquette into my head that sometimes my friends make fun of me for being such a goodie two shoe. However, I still think dining table etiquette is still important and relevant in 2011. My friend was just out on a date and her date would not put his phone down, such a turn off. Read this great article by Asia Tatler before going out to dinner with your significant other’s parents for the first time or going on that important lunch interview. It may seem boring but you might want to thank me after!

travelled thursday: time traveling through scents

Add a comment

There’s no doubt that scent triggers memories. For me, the smell of pumpkins or pumpkin pies always brings back memories of boarding school. At about sunset, my dorm mates and I would set newspaper down to start cutting open pumpkins and pull the seeds out (which are delicious when baked with a little olive oil and salt by the way). We’d be done carving at about dark, the perfect time to light a candle and put it in the pumpkin.

What are your fondest memories of the fall? Try lighting up a few memory triggering scents around the house and see what a difference it makes on your mood!

packaging is just as important as the scent itself
