My passion for creation is relevant in every step I take; whether it’s directly designing accessories for the collection, or building relationships with all the beautiful people I am so privileged to meet along this journey.
Credit for this fun photoshoot reaches out to a very talented business woman who feeds her creative side through the her vintage eyewear brand, Kajal of Kajal London. We first connected through a now very good friend of mine, whom I met in a factory elevator when I very first started calling NYC home. Hence not only am I humbled to be collaborating in Kajal’s Distinction Portrait Book, it is such an honour to witness us build such a supportive community. In a fashion world so often full of intimidation, it is as we step out of our comfort zone our businesses truly grow and flourish.
Today I’d like this feature to represent the #PowerOfHello – as you just never know what inspiration will be found through looking outward and smiling at strangers.

Tribal sure has made a place for itself in the seasonless trend section of my wardrobe. Something just simply fun about the hectic complimentary patterns. I’m loving the black+white contrast worked into a #toomuchisnevertoomuch mixup mashup of nail design.

Fashion Week is back around the corner – means get ready for style inspiration coming at you from every angle. I personally love the hair and makeup walking down the catwalk. How they want to make the girls get noticed for their beauty yet must keep eyes on the prize of the new collection. Let’s see if this new take on the braid (which I personally refer to as a plait in the english manor!) hits to paparazzi snaps next week!?

Always love to hear about celebrities getting involved in the accessories world….plus she looks super cute in a baseball cap!

In the short amount of beach time I was able to squeeze in this weekend while on the Jersey shore, aside from obtaining too many unwanted freckles, I managed to get through quite a bit of this fabulous sequel. If you’ve read or seen the movie “The Devil Wears Prada,” I’ve personally seen it more times than I can count on two hands, than “Revenge Wears Prada,” is something you have to read to find out what happens to those beloved characters.
It is not very complex writing and doesn’t take much to read, making it the perfect light beach book. I always find the whole out-of-reach hottie becoming true love theme to be enticing, and I love to hear some good monster-in-law gossip, so I’d say this is some chick-lit worth reading!
It takes place a decade later from when Andy left Runway, and shows how she, along with her BFF Emily (yes the crazy neurotic assistant from “Devil”, ironic right!?) now have their own high end wedding magazine. While trying to kick-start the business, Andy falls for Max, a man who’s known to be a womanizer and finds him to be quite charming. Everything seems golden until Andy reads a letter from Max’s mother on the morning of their wedding day written to him about her. It sends her world flying out of place and makes her question everything up until then….
The gal behind the series : Lauren Weisberger
Lauren Weisberger wrote her first novel, “The Devil Wears Prada”, in 2003 from her own experiences assisting editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour. She is 36 years old and currently lives in NYC with her husband and 2 dogs. Lauren has written 3 more novels after that, 2 being New York times best-sellers, and her most recent one “Revenge wears Prada” being a best seller as well. I think her ability to pick topics for fiction novels that she has significant real life experiences with make her writing so successful.

Boy it sure is summertime outside these days! The heat has arrived.
And if you’re like me, there are more “up-do” days when the temps are this high… so it’s time to get playfully creative!
Here’s a take on the average at-ease bun: dig into the bottom of your make-up bag and grab a few of those bobbin pins to accessorize a light and easy fresh look for your day!
Step 1: Fresh clean hair always feels and looks best. Use your typical lotions and potions, dry hair smooth with a paddle brush for a smooth base.
Step 2: Pull hair back from the face and secure into a low side ponytail. Wrap ends up and around, creating a loose, twisted bun. Secure with bobby pins.
Step 3: Use a contrasting color of bobby pins to make a row of chevrons (learn something new everyday, I had no clue that’s what this design is called!). Black pins are a good choice for blondes; silver would be better for dark strands. Slide one pin in on a diagonal, then a second pin through the first to create a stable v shape. Repeat until desired pattern is created.
Step 4: Step back, glance yourself in the mirror, smile at the beautiful you.

Upon turning 21, the first drink request I could think of was the ever loved P.Diddy special CIROC – with a touch of sweet peach of course! Knowing me & my desire to not drink all my daily calories away, my girlfriends helped search for a CIROC cocktail that was low cal. We came across the CIROC white peach and it will definitely be a part our of friday girls night routine!
Delicious and guilt-free; your turn:
-Mix 1.5 oz CIROC Peach
+ 1.5 oz of DIET Ginger ale
-Stir and top with your garnish of choice
( in my case a ripe clementine! )

The crowd of eclectic young/old, creative/finance were there to explore the entertainment and shop the wonderfully curated mix of local underground artists and nyc accessory designers including AEA Jewelry, Shannon Shiang New York and Cestsla Jewelry – a sure inspiration for the first preview of Sienna Ray’s new lambskin jewelry collection!

Sometimes mistakes are made to happen.
Not only a great validation for looking at ‘the glass half full’ – but to challenge yourself to make the most of certain situations…
Example at hand: when a friend accidentally spills a bit bleach on the left cheek of your favorite deep scarlet red skinnies!
After a few moments of saving face by holding back the tears (note to self: become less attached to wardrobe!) that curious little light bulb went off. The bleach spot actually came out a very complimentary color… a magic bit of research later, it was time to test out a touch of reverse tie dye:
COLLECT THE GOODS:
-big bucket / washing sink
-heavily pigmented colored jeans looking for a new look!
WALK THE WALK:
1. soak jeans in cold water, wring/spin cycle to damp
2. twist & turn the jeans as tight as you can (this is where rubber gloves become essential!)
3. create knotted areas and tie securely with elastic bands (these are the areas that stay colored)
4. create a bucket/tub of bleach water, the suggestion is to dilute say 1/3bleach to 2/3water
5. let soak for 1-6 hours depending on your desired look (note: when dried, the bleach area will lighten even more)
6. …if you’re a risk taker like me, use your discretion but I dripped straight bleach on certain areas to heighten the process!
7. untie & unwind, rinse in water, hang to dry to set in bleach
8. give them a wash through the laundry before wearing for a final set and to remove some of the bleach scent
*note* the bleach can reduce the strength of the denim so I highly suggest making sure the crotch/lower bum area of your jeans is part of the inside of a knot to reduce bleach exposure & eventual holes…!
Keep life playful & remember the fun with #MoreIsMore!

I know we’re always posting about the beautiful women who inspires us, enrich our desires & passion to dream and reach for the stars…. however there’s no need to be sexist here, there are often very special men in our lives that deserve a spotlight as well.
Today (in great honorary of my new love for #ThrowbackThursday!) I would like to take a moment to thank a dear dear friend of mine.
Jonas has enjoyed many ’5 minutes of fame’ along his journey of life up to this point: with great success through TV + Film, owning a thriving Fashion Boutique in Brasil, astounding recognition as an interior designer and winning great accolades as a top host in the Rocky Mountains of Canada – to name just a few!
I am proud to say I’ve offered him up another, with giving him a gigantic piece of my heart for being such an influencer in the first footsteps of Sienna Ray… it’s on his very kitchen table that the first bag of Sienna Ray was created; with his genuine love to see me succeed that boosted my confidence to step into the world of handbag design.
Therefore I was able to share forward with you all a gift from Jonas, naturally he became the muse & name behind my effortlessly chic jona clutch. Always being up for a good time, big or small (ok not sure if Jonas understands ‘small’ as everything he touches in this world is extraordinary!) each moment alongside him is always special.
This little jona clutch grew along the first years of Sienna Ray with many tweaks and updates… with many of you making me feel honored by sharing, to this day, how you still use your clutches from five plus years ago – love you!

…well for the selected few to start – aka for the humble abode of own, my NYC pied-à-terre to be exact.
It’s a “cozy” kind of place. Truly makes up for lack of space with a splash of character here and there. Hence, why not take the opportunity to customize a few things. And as many are already are aware of, I have a little thing known as a love for soft silky leather!
Process was by far a ‘learn as I go’ experience. Just the way I like it, throwing myself head first into the challenge. Watch as I turn IKEA into Sienna Ray with a few simple tools and a ton of patience:
Nº 1 discover the perfect base, cheap + cheerful IKEA klippan sofa
Nº 2 select the leathers!
Nº 3 one layer at a time...
Nº4 and then really start to make a mess!
Nº5 ask me the story about the 'upside down stapler...!'
Nº6 bonus workout conditions flipping a sofa ten times...
Nº7 and let's not forget about matching pillows
Nº8 and voila a Sienna Ray Sofa!
Nº9 view from above
Nº10 can you tell I'm proud of this little baby!?
Nº11 mister dogbear equally likes his new home.
..stay tuned for more Sienna Ray Bespoke!

It’s a New Year, and along with that comes unbelievably cool technology introduced in 2013. Keeping up with technology is very similar to keeping up with fashion, trends are always changing and you have to “be in the know”. Futuristic and fabulous, these gadgets will have you gasping for more.
For the Technology & Social Media Obssessed: Futuristic Specs
These models busted out Google’s new tech on the runway during NYFW! AH-mazing
Google has teamed up with a company called Vuzix creating futuristic specs for people who can’t bear not to be connected.
More of a headset than a pair of spectacles, the Vuzix projects a small colour image in front of your eye, runs the Android operating system and connects via Bluetooth to your phone. The screen could show you text messages, emails or map directions.
What this device’s killer app will turn out to be is anyone’s guess. It could, for instance, use face recognition to remind you of fellow partygoers’ names, their CVs and their latest Facebook status updates and tweets – never be stuck for small talk again!
When can I buy one? Summer 2013 for under $500.
For the Tree Huger/Energy Saver: The Nest
The “nest” was created by Tony Fadell, a man that worked for Apple Inc for years, and actually helped Steve Jobs created the ipod.
This little device is an at home “learning thermostat” that looks supper chic. Its screen is slightly domed glass; its barrel has a mirror finish that reflects your wall. Its color screen glows orange when it’s heating, blue when it’s cooling; it turns on when you approach it, and discreetly goes dark when nobody’s nearby.
The Nest has Wi-Fi, so it’s online. It can download software updates. You can program it on a Web site.
You can also use a free iPhone or Android app, from anywhere you happen to be, to see the current temperature and change it — to warm up the house before you arrive, for example. Go shopping all day and then a few minutes before you come home turn on your heat from your phone & BAM your in business baby! The Nest is supposed to program itself — and save you energy in the process. For $250 this is an amazing 2013 purchase, check out the video here.
For the Anger Management Tech Lover: Bendy Smartphone
Yes, the bendy screen smartphone. A bendy screen smartphone is a new technology touting a screen that we can bend! Yep. Who doesn’t want to bend and twist their phone into silly shapes sometimes?
It’s the best way to let out your anger, other than just throwing the thing against a wall. Using Samsung’s OLED display technology, we can be expecting a new phone model that will allow us to bend it, roll it up, and hit it with a hammer. (YES!) We already have the specs for this new piece of technological genius as well. The phone debuted as the “Galaxy Skin” (wait..did that say…skin?) features a high-res 800×480 AMOLED screen, 8mp camera and 1Gb of RAM as well as a 1.2GHz processor.
Don’t be surprised to see this new technology implemented into bendy screen tablets released shortly after. SO COOL!
For The Two-Wheeled Explorer: Photojojo Bikepod
Whipping around on your bike all day, you’re bound to catch some blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scenes. But, luckily, there is a gadget here to assist. Strap this little tripod doodad to your handlebars and you will never miss a camera-worthy moment again — at least not while riding your two-wheels. And we know what you’re thinking, yes, it is durable and will protect your beloved iPhone in case a tumble does occur. Buy it here ;) $45 and worth every penny.
For The Paranoid And OCD: Lockitron
We’re all familiar with that dreaded “wait, did I lock the door?” feeling when we’re about mid-way from point A to point B. Well, a new gadget is here to change all that. Lockitron gives you the ability to put your worrisome mind at ease wherever you are. It features a cool cover that fits on most deadbolt locks and has built-in Wi-Fi, so you can check up on the status of your door. It also allows you to lock and unlock from afar. Amazing, right? $125

The boutique, which will be open from Thanksgiving weekend until Christmas Eve, offers a selection of special edition handbags, clutches, cosmetic cases and leather goods catering to the East Coast woman. For the first time Sienna Ray & Co. will debut a capsule collection of men’s small leather goods, RAY87, including wallets, cardholders, and laptop bags. The boutique will embody a similar vision to the handbags: clean and inquisitive, giving customers the opportunity to touch and feel the product, also to see that there really is more then meets the eye. Each handbag is multifaceted just like the New York woman, a bag to rely on that can be with you and enhance your energy from day to night.
“Immediately when we signed the lease I wanted to include other inspiring designers in this opportunity and initiated a series of events ‘PopUp in a PopUp’. I wouldn’t be where I am today without all the help and support from friends, family and industry successors. I feel the PopUp shop is a true test to the brand. I see crisp white walls, edited product, multiple color stories; with accent of our signature lining from dress forms to delicately wrapped Christmas parcels, surrounding the atmosphere with holiday love and gift giving.
The location could not be more fitting in the high-end independent design area of NoLita. I feel extremely humbled to be in a radius of talented designers and brands. I am equally so proud to embrace my Vancouver roots, being situated on a prime shopping trail of Canadian success starting with Artizta on Broadway/Prince, John Fluevog footwear on Mulberry and now Sienna Ray & Co. around the corner.”- Founder & Creative Director, Natalie Kathleen

As we know, New Yorkers run off caffeine… it is almost like a “cool cult” to be at the latest happenin coffee shop in town. Whether you are a local, or just visiting here are our top pics, def give these spots a try!
#1. la colombe
With 3 locations in NYC (2 being located on lafayette st) this place is what we call OFFICIAL. Our fav location of the 3 is by far NOHO, due to the fact that it is pretty big with plenty of space to sit and have a convo with a friend. or get lost in a good book. The inside has an industrial vibe, and we are also suckers for the cute headscarves that all the baristas wear. Two warnings: there is NO wifi or soy milk on the premises.
I might be a little bias on this one, but it has to be my personal favorite of the bunch! Although the coffee is deff a little pricey, it is more about the “experience”. Think has 4 locations in NYC (2 which have free wifi) but I would have to say that the bleecker street spot is the best. It is in such a cute area filled with local boutiques and shops. The coffee is great, they are socially and environmentally conscious, the workers wear cute fidora hats, and the music is cool. What’s not to love?
#3. Gasoline Alley
Gasoline Alley is a cool spot located in Noho on Lafayette (btw Houston & Bleecker). It is supper small, made for in-and-out visits, but can give you that morning fix in a hurry! The coffee is strong, but made well, and the donuts are from a DOUGH (a bakery in Brooklyn) and are to die for!
This place is known for the consistency, which is really good coffee every time! …btw it is cash only!
#5. Ost Cafe
Located in the east village, this cool dig has floor to ceiling windows that open and give a beautiful vibe with excellent light. Another plus of this place is that it is very affordable $2 for coffee without sacrificing the taste. Our only compliant is that it’s very small and sometimes hard to get a table. (but well worth it)
Located in the Gramercy district, this place is sure to please. It’s cosiness and space is just perfect, not to mention the delish coffee! This is also a great spot for lunch. You might even spot a celeb or two here!

One of the coolest spots in NYC by far has to be the High Line park, located on Manhattan’s West Side. It runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues. Founded by community residents in 1999, this city sanctuary was built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan. From catching some rays, to having a picnic, or even hosting a runway show, the High Line has it all. Almost everyday of the week this public park has an event or attraction for it’s visitors. If you live in NYC, or are just visiting this is a M U S T see.

What can possibly be better than drinking beer on the street and eating oysters all day? The Stone Street Oyster Festival is coming up next Saturday, Sept 22nd in NYC’s Financial District. The party is located on Stone Street and Hanover Square- hosted by financial district stalwarts Ulysses Folk House and Harry’s Café and Steak. The two downtown drinking-dens have put together the party for 10 years running, Good music, fun company, beer + champagne + oyster = a done deal! See you there. xx

Times Square is the breeding ground for tourists in NYC, stretching from west 42-47th street. It is jammed packed with 100 million things going on all at the same time. For some, it can even be a bit overwhelming. The best part about the area are by far it’s billboards, even a native New Yorker can appreciate a fabulous marketing campaign and creative ways to show it. Here are some top trending billboards right now. GAGA & RhiRhi have been getting A LOT of attention over the past few days for their perfume adds…nudity and provocative poses are creating quite the stir around town. (personally, we love them so power to em…if you’ve got it flaunt it)
What do you guys think?

It is a B E A U T I F U L day in New York City & the fashion elite are about and about decked from head-to-toe. Spend your Wednesday in the West Village with the trendiest boutiques in town. Smaller boutiques= a better/exclusive shopping experience with unique pieces that you will not find anywhere else.
SAMPLE is our new fav spot to hit located between Elizabeth and Bleecker street. Besides being located in a great area, SAMPLE is famous for it’s “basic” knitwear that will keep you coming back for more. The boutique also carries a line, Vessel, which is produced and designed right here in New York City. Not only are the pieces fashion forward, the designer will take your measurements for a custom fit. After you have checked out all of the fab ready-to-wear hit the accessories wall. Our personal favs are the adjustable crushed diamond pyrite cocktail rings by Forma from Italy.
One more thing you should see in the boutique…SIENNA RAY!! We are now being carried by in the store, how fabulous is that? I smell a shopping spree.

The glory days right now… those bonus summer-like bright days & nights – where the biggest dilemma in a day can often be based around “do I wear my new fall tights or push one more outing in my fav sundress before it’s too late!?”
In the meantime, don’t take too long to decide and get one final nibble & sip out and about in the goodness of the fresh outdoors:
2. a few block south, above & beside the bustling Flatiron highstreet, grab a late aftn glass & snack up top Eatily's Birreria
3. ...and to cap off the day with a bit of exercise, there's always the glorious ping pong sprucing up The Standard Biergarten el fresco ambience

Fashion week does not start until tomorrow…what’s a girl to do on this mighty fine Wednesday in New York City? Let’s make it a West Village kind of night @ Windsor! Today just happens to be the opening of football season, Giants verse Cowboys…and I know what you thinking (football really?) but it’s more about the eye candy then the game. The Windsor is not your typical sports bar, it is a SUPER CUTE small spot on on west 4th street with “social sensibility” (meaning a good crowd). Not only is the crowd and decor on point, but so is the food. So put on those skinny jeans and grab your girls after work for happy hour.
A sports bar in NYC not filled with tourists TOUCHDOWN ;) See you there xx

…opening ceremonies, to man’s favourite ladies beach volleyball, to worldwide favourite gymnastics & swimming – nothing beats a little like-minded company to cheer on your home team! From Uptown to Downtown you’ll find your friends from around the globe ready to get into the Games action:
West Village White Hall, British with a modern twist.
Straight up great locale with perks of a special Olympics happy hour from 5 to 7pm on Friday – and for our friends originating trans-atlantic, if you flash a British passport,
drinks are on the house!
Midtown Big Screen Plaza: fresh air fondness.
Prefer to opt for natural light? Find the games on the massive screen while touching on school sports’ day memories with tug-o-war + horse hoses along with more adult olympic events as Beer Pong + Beer Slides.
Did I mention the Greg Louganis Springboard (aka british gin) cocktails..?
Kips Bay Churchill, London's calling.
Upping the odds: they had me at hello with the nostalgic proper British tavern vibe. They will keep me hanging about with a mysterious “surprise treat” served on the housewith each gold medal pulled in by team England!
Chelsea Smithfield, Pimms + Hendricks + English grub.
Count on a bar known as “the home of football in NYC” to offer up a trifecta of Olympic-ness. Well priced $6 cocktails, twenty-one (yes that’s plenty of) TV’s, and boasting of opening hours as early as 10:30am for top events – and with the +5 time London time difference it’s ‘game on’ at all times!
NOHO Slainte, beers on bowery + healthy happy hour!
Get cozy in this intimate Irish drinkery. With 20 beers on tap, and a two-for-one beer and wine happy hour special weekdays from noon to 8 p.m this establishment is surely to receive plenty of support!
Murrary Hill, rooftop timeouts.
Plethora of drink specials, plasma TV’s, cushy sofas and breathing room with touristy-worthy views via the rooftop patio. Has weekday Olympic Fix written all over it with Olympics fix while enjoying happy hour specials such as $3 drafts and $4 well liquor drinks from 11am-8pm M-F.
Upper East Side Dorians, English 'charming' included.
Bring your Prep to mingle alongside Co-eds with gold metal class. In exchange for cold beer and raging burgers you’ll need to ensure your man dons a collared shirt to grant access to the Olympic hangout north of 83rd.
Now this could make for a very interesting drinking game…
Enjoy & you will more than likely spot a few Sienna Ray girls at these events – under our stylish shell we are all-star sports fans…! xx
ps Special thanks to a few of our fav sites Someecards, Guest of a Guest, TimeOut New York, CBS and Business Insider for keeping us ‘in the know’.

My name is Diane Williams. I am a grandmum, and an executive with NuSkin Enterprises. We help people feel healthier and look younger, and empower them to build financial security. This makes me very happy.
I recently went on a wonderful Mediterranean cruise, and I took my Sienna Ray bag with me. It was the perfect companion – next to my husband. I typically carry everything in my bag – phone, makeup, notebook, wallet, brush, breathspray, and business planner. And while travelling, of course, I needed to add a camera, passport, map and hand sanitizer.
Everything fits neatly into my wonderful bag. And it looks slim, trim and beautiful. I absolutely love my Sienna Ray bag!

300 lbs of glitter & over $1 million worth of Swarovski crystal, what a beautiful night! I, like many other women (and some men) across America, sat down to watch the Victoria’s Secret 2011 Fashion Show. Loyally by my side sat a plate of cookies & a glass (or two) of wine.
having a blast at a private viewing of the show!
As can be expected I had a few minor “I want my stomach to look that toned” moments. Hard to not be a teensy jealous of Miranda Kerr’s amazing workout results post pregnancy. However, my heart melted with how publicly proud Orlando Bloom was, watching his wife in her natural element. True love and devotion between the two of them was clearly what made her so capable of maintaining a healthy family while enchanting the world as an Angel.
Romance underneath all that glitz & glam!
While admiring how beautiful and confident these young women are I was captivated by each gorgeous detail of the costumes. Obviously, the much raved $2.5 million dollar bra!
Miranda Kerr takes to the runway!
These wings reportedly took over SEVEN years to make! How excited is Alessandra that she was chosen to wear them? Looking at her, it’s hard to believe these weighed 30lbs. Alessandra adjusted her workouts to strengthen her back in preparation for these wings! Such a gorgeous result, they perfectly accompanied the Victoria’s Secret equivalent of a little black dress, the little black bra!
Fascinating use of over 100,000 crystals!
I’ve decided I would like some wings, I would like to walk down the runway with music playing and 300 lbs of glitter in the air! Until that day, I will continue admiring the confidence and poise each of these Angels emulates.

stack em up ladies!
a great watch is key
it's an arm party...and your invited
Whoever said “less is more” clearly lost their invite. It’s as simple as this- go Big or go Home! The latest trend on all fashion influencers is the arm party: meaning LOTS of bracelets, cuffs, charms, and even strips of string or leather. Lets start from the basic invites. Threaded bracelets are considered the “furniture” of the party and can add a bit of “coolness” or youth in between your staples. Threaded bracelets can also be interchangeable with more traditional friendship bracelets or strips of leather tied. Next lets add in some metal pieces. Chains, spikes, snakes, & skulls…bring it baby! Now to the VIP invites: bust out your most prized pieces in your jewelry box- cartier, marc jacobs cuffs, vintage watch, or large leather snap band from your trip to Europe.
Now to help you get your arm party in order, here are some adorbs pieces to start with
pieces to start your party
Not only have you transformed your arm to a party- its a full blown rager!

Johnny Cash- The original man in black, and the only one.
Andre 3000 -"Anybody can wear crazy clothes and anybody can wear classic clothes. Balancing the two can be an art."
Marvin Gaye- There is so much style on the cover of What's Going On that it hurts.
Mick Jagger- Sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll, and polka-dot scarves. "Do you have the moves like jagger?"
Elvis Presley- The King was comfortable in stripes-over-stripes. Automatic pass.
Jay Z- The king of what? The king of styyyle."
Frank Sinatra- The Chairman of the Board: always proper, always drink in hand.
Beastie Boys- Take a walk down to your local sneakerhead store and take a look around at the Beastie Boys.
The Smiths - Looking good even without Morrissey!
Wow! They are the definition of “style” in the music industry. These trend setters have influenced pop culture over the years and continue to make their mark in fashion. Don’t drool too much!

style influencer Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) spreading the turban trend
Carin Wester "marrakesh" turban from Urban Outfitters
leopard print turban by River Island
Eugenia Kim "dominique" hand-knit turban hat
Hats are instant style ooomphers. In days when you can’t think of anything to wear, just put on something casual then add a nice hat. Ta-da! Fab in an instant! The latest craze in fashion are turbans. This international inspiration piece has been around for a while, but has recently gained much recognition. The best part about a turban is they look good on everyone- long hair, short hair, curly hair, or straight hair. Turban hats also come in a variety of colors and fabrics. We reccomend a shinny satin piece (you can add a brouche for some bling) for evening or holiday event, a printed turban to spice up a plain outfit, and a cotton/knit option for a casual look. If you choose to make your own turban you can actually create one with an old scarf. Here are the steps:
steps to creating a turban
We can’t wait to see what you come up with! Make sure you post some pics of wearing one (even tag us in it).

grateful cranberry cocktail
pass the turkey cocktail
cheers to you!
The time of year for cranberries is here! Thanksgiving is around the corner, and plan on celebrating without a cocktail, don’t you? (Or maybe instead of celebrating, you’ll just be coping with relatives. Either way, a cocktail is in order.) Here are some fabulous cranberry cocktails for your holiday:
1. Grateful Cranberry Cocktail: This fall cranberry cocktail is perfect for Thanksgiving. It’s light enough that it won’t compete with a plate full of turkey and mashed potatoes. But the unique mixture of cranberry, honey, bourbon, green tea and ginger ale is full enough to satisfy the taste buds.
-1 1/2 oz. bourbon
-1 oz. cranberry-honey syrup
-Green tea flavored ginger ale
Fill collins glass three-quarters full with crushed ice and frozen cranberries. Pour in bourbon and syrup, then top off with ginger ale.
2. Poinsettia Cocktail: This classic champagne cocktail is wonderful for holiday entertaining. Light and refreshing, the Poinsettia Cocktail ads an extra bit of holiday cheer to any gathering.
- 1/2 oz. Cointreau
- 3 oz. Cranberry Juice
Add chilled Cointreau and Cranberry to chilled champagne glass. Stir and top with Champagne just before serving.
3. Pass the Turkey: Make this bourbon creation paired with cranberry, cider, sage and thyme and you won’t be sorry.
- 1.5 oz. Wild Turkey 101
- 2 oz. apple cider
- 1 tbs. cranberry jelly
- 1 sprig fresh sage
- 1 sprig fresh thyme
Muddle sage and thyme with apple cider. Add ice, top with Wild Turkey and cranberry jelly. Shake well, strain over ice in a glass rimmed with turkey juice and breadcrumbs.

I heard a lovely quote this morning, “Summer for the weather, Winter for the fashion”. Someone is surely reading my mind!! Just maybe there is some truth to this 11/11/11 making for a magical day? I believe it.
I love the sun.
I love feeling the rays beat on my back on the beach while I lose myself in a novel. The brilliant sunshine makes me all the more excited for excursions of various length and distance. However, I think I love layering my outfits just as much as all of that, if not more. I embrace being able to capture a timeless look of sophistication with a classic LBD and other key pieces. My closet thrives on an extensive collection of neutral colors. I then utilize this bold canvas with various accessories that pop color and portray theme’s to showcase how I am feeling that day. I find this much more fun to do in the winter months than the warmer months.
I am really coveting colored tights this season. I am hoping to combine my love for sweater tights with this newest obsession. Digging back into the archives of Milan’s Fall/Winter Fashion Week 2011 there were many colored sweater tights to be seen. I recently picked up a gorgeous blue suede mini the other day that would like brilliant with some mustard or wine tights.
What is your favorite part of the seasons?

Funny girl Amy Adams was spotted hitting the streets on a shopping spree sporting her leather shoulder strap. Sienna Ray’s “milfie” is known as the unofficial mum bag. The milfie was controversially named for all the hot mamas. Featuring two sizeable compartments with inner zip pockets, as well as an easy to reach outer pocket, this bag has a place for it all. Long rolled handles & an optional cross-body strap enable the bag to be carried in a variety of comfortable fashions.

Skip that Starbucks run on your lunch break and head to Bryant Park! It is officially that time of the year, holiday shops are up and filled with trendy holiday trinkets and yummy festive foods. Whether your there for a round of chess/backgammon, hitting the shops, or simply there for a cup of coffee- it is a great treat to help you get in the holiday spirit. Here is a trendy tip for you- set up shop with your weekday load of work (laptop included…they have plug ins!) and enjoy the street fashions, it is great wardrobe inspiration.

shopping for a bargain
inside NYC's "the market"
These days everyone is searching for a good bargain, “the market” NYC is the perfect weekend stop to shop. Located on a block that is pretty quiet during the week, St. Patrick’s Youth Center’s gymnasium at 268 Mulberry Street is transformed into a wonderland of independent fashion every Saturday and Sunday. This trendy indoor market has become the showcase for some of the city’s best independent designers setting up tables and racks of cutting edge handmade clothing, jewelry, handbags, hats and more recently, artwork. Some designers have even opened up their own boutiques but they still remain loyal by selling each weekend at the Market. The Market attracts a mixed crowd of shoppers each weekend, including tourists from around the world, locals looking for the next big fashion trend, and there’s the occasional celebrity sighting too – Leonardo DiCaprio (incognito) has been seen picking up a t-shirt or two, Debra Messing likes the jewelry, and Sienna Miller. You never know what you’re going to find!

moet gold case- top of the line
asti dolce- ballin on a budget
Who says champagne is only for special occasions? We believe that everyday is a celebration (the little things in life), or otherwise known as a “champagne campaign.” Do you know that champagne first gained it’s reputation because of it’s association with the anointment of French Kings? Europe decided to spread the message of this fab sparkling wine and it became a symbol of luxury and power. Now to the good stuff! Here is a little tip for you: pouring champagne while tilting the glass at an angle and gently sliding the liquid along the side will help you with all of those bubbles! (you can impress while your pour) If you are ready to dish out the doe then your best bet is a bottle of Moet. If you are ballin on a budget then we suggest a bottle of Asti- amazing taste for a cheap price. Also keep in mind if you want a sweet taste instead of brut look for the word “dolce” on the bottle. Enjoy for champagne…and don’t forget to share! ;)

fabulous "fred clous" flats
I think that almost every fashionable women in the world has a new pair of “loubs” on their wish list. Christian Louboutin’s are usually known for their sky high stilettos with signature red bottoms- but these babies have stole my heart (and I’m sure yours too)! These fabulous “fred clous” flats are a bit more delicate then last seasons “fred flat spikes”, yet remain supper edgy at the same time. Of course there is one tiny catch to these puppies…their price tag at hefty $1, 295! (hey if you got it flaunt it)
oxford studded flats by urbanog $22.20
primlico studded brogues from topshop $180
"stud-ies" show flats from modcloth $44.95
If you are balling on a budget try these options. They might not be Christian Louboutins BUT they are still supper trendy and have the same style aesthetic. (plus way more affordable)

the tools to achieve a soft look
Who says bright shades are only for nights out? You can wear them anywhere- as long as you follow the 20% rule. (swipe makeup on your upper lids and lips, 20% of your face) This season iridescent lavender liner is killer on the eyes! To get the perfect look do two swipes against top lashes to create a think line, then top it with a similar shade of shadow for all day staying power. Add some mascara to the tops lashes and throw on some pink bubblegum lip gloss for that final touch.
seductive & classic
neutrals & bold lips
A neutral palette looks way edgier when you mix up different textures. To achieve this seductive look keep the eyes shimmery and the lips matte. The best way to start is by putting on the darkest product first, in this case the lipstick…I know that seems a little backwards. Putting the darkest product first prevents you from being heavy-handed everywhere else. The next step is adding on eyeliner to your lower inner rims- followed by a bronze shadow on your lid, creating an arc affect. Almost done, add some mascara and your good to go!

haunted halloween host- blood manor
scary ghosts & clowns
Think haunted houses are for kids? Then you haven’t experienced NYC’s Blood Manor haunted house- 5,000 square feet of terror. This bloodcurdling labyrinth takes you through twenty themed rooms of horror including: the graveyard of the doomed, killer clowns, disgraceland, the cabaret of death, and zombie apocalypse. Combining the high value production of a Broadway show with the thrill of a go-go bar..this Halloween is definitely adult proofed. Their attention to detail is seriously impressive and although the sets are amazing, it’s the actors that truly set Blood Manor apart from the rest of NYC’s Halloween attractions. Cast members don’t hesitate to lunge at, follow and tease visitors, even while taking a fair amount of heckling from tipsy tourists. The attraction will be taking place 163 Varick Street from October 7-November 5…don’t be a scaredy cat!

Who says you can’t be a star? Halloween is the perfect day where you can be ANYONE you want- including a celebrity. We know how creative you can be! Remember when you used to make your own Halloween costumes growing up? Remember when trick-or-treating was the highlight of your season, it still can be- with a little ambition and imagination. Here are some fab celeb costume ideas- and the best part is we will tell you exactly what pieces you need to make the look come together.
these creative chicks captured the essence of the Olsen twins!
These chickas have some serious style! Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen is a delicious duo for Halloween. The above image is a costume that two ladies put together themselves. It is supper easy to do, and of course let’s make it your own! Here’s what you will need:
- your best friend (or sister) to be the 2nd twin
- 1 long black dress & 1 long white dress- you can switch it up by using gray, nude, brown or any neutrals (the twins do not wear much color)
- a long jacket (anything vintage works great)- don’t be afraid to hit your local thrift store!
- huge sunglasses
- blonde wigs (if you don’t have blonde hair)
- hippie headbands
- black nail polish
- 2 empty starbucks cups (or full depending on what ur drinkin!)…add some flare by writing their names in sharpie on each cup
- have your blackberry or iphone in had
- and most importantly LOTS of accessories- rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings & of course your fav Sienna Ray cross body or tote
queen barbie- Nicki Minaj
Barbie is back…queen Barbie Nicki Minaj that is! This rap star diva is a fun look that will keep you energetic & fierce all night. Here is what you’ll need to complete the look
- a bright pink wig (doesn’t matter if you choose long or short- play around with the idea)
- cropped leather jacket
- black leather leggings
- tight corset & bright colored push up bra
- tall strappy stilettos
- bright neon colored nail polish
- baby pink lipstick
- barbie necklace (check claires)
- if you really want to get creative sub the corset for a short colorful poofy dress
Of course how could this celeb Halloween list not have the ultimate pop-star Lady GaGa! This outrageous fashionista is known for her out of control style. There are MANY lady gaga looks you could try for your costume (if your daring enough)- but this one is a no brainer. Here’s what your need:
- a hooded leotard (you could choose any color you like)- of course from American Apparel
- long blonde wig with bangs
- rayband esc sunglasses
- long gloves (choose to match your leotard or add in some extra color)
- if your not willing to bare all of that leg try some sexy fishnet tights
- your choice of thigh-high boots or ridiculously high pumps- the crazier the shoe, the better
Good luck with your costume, hope this helps! Don’t forget to post your pictures- we can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy Halloween ;)

OPI's fall "touring america" collection
Fall is here- and so is all of the fabulous treats that come along with the season. I like to think the most symbolic trait of Autumn is not that changing of the leaves, but the changing of the nail polish! With the first breath of fall we rub off those neons & pinks- slap on a coat of black polish, and sprint to the nearest Starbucks to wrap them around a pumpkin spice latte as soon as they are dry. This year as trend setters, we must explore the rest of the dark side. Navy, charcoal grey, burgundy, chocolate and dark greens, purples, browns and reds are some fabulous (and more transitional) color options. Here are some of my personal favs I wanted to share with you:
black beauty- butter matte finish
the final outcome of black matte polish
Chanel "peridot"- wins most unique color this season
Dior's slightly metallic "tuxedo" polish
you can never go wrong with the classic essie "wicked"

modern day tea party
gaga sporting that teacup better then a birkin bag
west village nyc- The Tea Set
As you know New York City has always been a coffee town, it’s suddenly facing serious competition from a more delicate ladylike drink. Beautiful blondes aren’t the only tea fans- jet setters, pop stars and Wall Street gurus are buzzing over the leafy brew too! Facebook and Napster Co-Founder Sean Parker boasts a collection of more then 100 exotic teas, and Lady GaGa totes around a teacup like it’s a Birkin bag. New York’s fashion scene, (of course) is way ahead of the trend…duh. Almost every major designer has held a celebratory tea reception/tea party. This “chic” thing to do can also be an economic factor- instead of throwing a fancy lunch or cocktail reception; they’ll throw a tea party! Didn’t get your invite to one of these fab celeb studded tea parties? No worries- NYC suddenly has some supper sweet teashops popping up all over the city. If your in the West Village check out The Tea Set (cozy nook that seats 25), Soho home to Harney & Sons (tea store & tasting bar), and Upper East Side perfectly suits William Poll (a tea-sandwich shop).
Adding Champagne to the mix probably doesn’t dent the devotion of the young and thirsty, either. The Tea Set has created a tea-rrific $15 cocktail by mixing bubbly with syrup made from the store’s bestseller, Red Peach Vanilla tea… now that sounds like my cup of tea! After all, tea is perfect for frenzied New Yorkers with a big caffeine habit and little piece of mind. Tea promotes harmony and balance of life- drinking tea is an art of living.

After several days hiatus I have returned. If you would like a sneak peek at what kept me so busy this weekend, take a look! A big thanks to Rob Daly for this weekend, so lovely for you to make the trip! The weather here in NYC has continued to tease me. 70+ degrees Fahrenheit some days and not a drop of rain to be seen! I loathe the couple of days with inconsistent heavy rains, however, as much as my mood (& skin) will miss the constant sunshine, I cannot pretend I am not excited for a real AUTUMN weekend. With the Holidays just around the corner, I only have several weekends before the sequence of extended family gatherings begins (aka lots of traveling and not always on my own personal terms!).
Here are a couple of the things on the bucket list for this glorious fall…
Gotta love my WINE: I’ve heard from many of my girlfriends that the vineyard tours on Long Island are a must do! Many come with package deals for wine tastings at several neighboring vineyards: why get all that way for one, the more the merrier! Ironic as it is, I do not really think of the east coast of America when I think of wine. This ‘just outside the city’ adventure seems similar to a vineyard tour I went on last year in the gorgeous landscape of Oregon. Oh, the memories…
Bringing out the CHILD in me: Might I suggest venturing to the pumpkin patch very soon! With the beautiful weekends we have been having, I am sure the patch has been quite the hotspot for families, teens, young couples and really anyone (like me) that get’s all giddy over every little holiday throughout the year! A popular favorite, again out on Long Island, is the long standing Helen’s with a corn maze for the children, hot apple cider and a beautiful country view for a bit of FALL romance, and of course pumpkins for carving and recipes galore. I’m sure there are many in the tri-state area to get your Halloween sweet tooth fulfilled!
It definitely seems that Long Island is not just an escape from the summer humidity, but a great little weekend escape from the city for any season! Although NYC may be what brings people to this area… clearly there are hidden gems to be seen in the surrounding areas. Though, I personally do not want to miss the HARD Haunted NYC affair at Terminal 5! Skream and Benga, original dubstep DJ’s from the UK (a step away and above mainstream dubstep sounds) are performing with Joker this Saturday. I came across this tempting night out on the list of Fall activities (101 to be specific) in the latest TimeOut - be sure to check out number 74 for pumpkin patch fun IN the city. So excited to finally spend a long night dancing until the morning with the floors throbbing under my feet and flashing lights all around me.
What are you doing this weekend?

love layering with sequins!
perfect pieces for layering a dress
kick it up a notch- layering your pants look
the sweet and sassy look- layering a skirt
be a trend setter- fashionable & fun layering
Listen up ladies, the hottest trendy tip for fall is leaning how to layer your clothing. There are so many ways to layer your look- some of them can make your outfit different and personal, and some of them can make you look like a hot mess! The most important thing to keep in mind when layering is colors and textures. Avoid using too many layers…3 things on top is enough (you don’t want to look bulky). When it comes to colors neutrals are key for a classic or polished look, they have low saturation and can give your layering a harmonious touch. For a sassy and stylish look mix different fabrics- you can never go wrong with a little sequins! Remember layering is not only for the upper part of your body. Layer the bottom half with tights, leggings, and over the knee socks peeping out of high boots is always fashionable. Keep it classy or sass it up depending on your mood and personal style.

Hey ladies, fall is here and it is coming to that time of the year- put those bathing suits away and pull out the sweaters. No more beach doesn’t have to mean no more tan! A healthy sun kissed glow goes perfectly with every outfit no natter what season you are in. I wonder if someone told Snooki that UV exposure can causes dry leathery skin. Bye-bye carrot and hello beautiful! One great option is a spray tan- if you can’t afford personal application by a professional, try the booths. After much research and personal options from fellow women, the best products on the market right now are: Aveeno Continuous Radiance Moisturizing lotion, Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel, Jergens Natural Glow Express, and L’Occitane Sunshine Lotion. preggers & still sexy
"audrey hepburn" inspired beyonce
audrey hepburn in funny face
Baby bump Beyonce gets her ‘Audrey Hepburn” on for her new 60′s inspired “Countdown” video. This glamorous diva can pull off any look, pregnant and all! Her main character in the video is inspired by ‘Audrey Hepburn’ in Funny Face, mimicking the look in all black, long sleeves, and white socks with flats. In the video Beyonce is seen wearing a full closet’s worth of fun 60′s gear in dozens of variations of herself while keeping a glowing smile. The concept might be simple, but Beyonce’s intricate dance numbers and split screen effect brings a lot of energy and sass. Who else can be preggers and still dance like that? She has proved no matter what the circumstance may be- she will continue making outstanding music. Can you say fierce?!

wine mecca of the world
breath taking napa valley winery
vintage red wine from napa valley
There is only one thing that comes to mind when we reach this day of the week, “Thirsty Thursday”! It is time to kick back and unwind with a great glass of wine. Napa Valley, located in northern California, is known as the mecca of wineries and vineyards. Why not kick off your Napa Valley excursion with an adventurous wine tour? The tours point out landmarks-wineries along the way, and tell stories about local history and winemaking. The best part of the tour is tasting some of the world’s most delicious wines!
I know what your thinking…not everyone has the funds to visit Napa Valley for a wine tasting tour. Lucky for you every major city has a first-class winery or local wine events that offer tasting selections to fit everyone’s unique palette. If you’re located in NYC check out local wine events to get your drink on.

changing from heels to flats in a few easy steps
black patent leather-great for work
black "mariella" strappy heels
What an amazing concept from shoe-company Camileon Heels …wish I have thought of this! How many times have you caught yourself running to catch the subway or trying to haul a cab in your stilettos? This adjustable shoe gives you the option to convert your heel to a flat in a few simple steps.
The main question we must ask ourselves as trendsetters simply comes down to this…are we choosing comfort or fashion? Even though this is one Ah-mazing idea, Camileon Heels does not offer a large variety of fashionable styles and materials for their shoes. Are these adjustable shoes really going to give the same affect as our fabulous designer 5inchers? I think not, go big or go home. The company is dedicated to improving design, fit, and comfort as they move forward. I will definitely keep an on Camileon Heels to see how they progress into fashion “must-haves”.
To test these out for yourself, head to the Camileon Heels website.

TGIF! For most people, weekends just aren’t as fun without going out and having a few drinks at a bar. Going out doesn’t always mean you have to consume food/drinks high in calories. (Did you know the long island iced tea has about 700 calories?) Here are some recipes for low cal drinks:
- Tokyo tea- 1.5 oz. TY KU Soju, 1.5 oz. unsweetened iced tea, squeeze of lemon, lime, or orange. 70 cal
- The Blue Hoo- 2 oz of Van Gogh BLUE Vodka, 4 oz of Yoo-Hoo. 200 cal
- Raspberry Ruby- 1/4 oz pomegranate reduction grenadine, 1/4 oz simple syrup, 1/2 oz. lemon juice, 2 oz vodka, 4 raspberries 200 cal
- Irish iced tea- 6 oz. Irish Breakfast Tea, 1 oz. Irish whiskey , and 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice 80 cal

What’s your beverage of choice in the summer? Is it a frappuccino, smoothie, coconut water, or just plain old water? As refreshing as frozen drinks, juice, and iced teas are, most of them contain with added sugar. Deep down we all know that water is the best for your body. Try carrying a bottle of water in your purse and see if you can’t cut down on the number of frozen drinks or cold beverages you purchase during lunch break. (It saves you a lot of money too) The collapsable Vapur bottle is a great choice for ladies who don’t have a lot of room in their purse for a giant bottle.

part#2: shop, shop, SHOPPING!
1. Soho: by far the best selection and ambiance, everything from highstreet brands to designer labels, my fav places are between 7th & broadway / houston & grand
got a thing chuck taylor's? check out the converse store in SoHo
2. Flatiron district: amazing homewear stores and large versions of your typical zara/bcbg type stores
3. Upper east & 5th ave: I group these two even though they are quite different – I’d power through in a day and spend more time downtown – must see on 5th is Henry Bendel’s and up east for the athletic types I adore eveythjng in the cute track & field boutique from brazil
4. Day trip: for serious “while we are in the USA” shopping, head to port authority bus station and in less than an hour you’ll be at jersey park mall… Can easily blow a whole day and a fair bit of cash – but in return it’s sweetest ever deals and actually a quality selection, off 5th (SAKS discount) is a must visit
"shopping is my cardio"
5. Bleeker street boutiques, between, famous magnoila’s bakery (supposedly the ones who started the current cupcake craze), designer and higher-end branded stores, I have spent a few shopping trips in NARS, Fresh, intermix, MAC, 7 jeans and london’s Reiss to say a few…
...great starting location!

WOW if you have the energy this glowing city does not stop… Here’s a few memory making activities that filled my weekends & evenings this spring & into summer:
part#1: OUTDOOR/PATIO/ROOFTOP DRINKS (in no official order, all equally fab!):
1. Biergarten at the standard hotel in the meatpacking district – picnic table style, crowded as ever with a popular & vibrant new yorkers
2. Mé Bar in Korea town, secret gem of a rooftop with $22 bottles of wine, small patio area, least “glam” of my selections which is often a nice change, sweet view of Rockefeller center which is literally a block away, 32nd street between 5th & 6th, enter the
3. Central park, byob + picnic basket, my favorite area is here: between turtle pond & the great lawn
4. The frying pan, on the river near chelsea, a couple old boats tied up to the pier, fresh, fun and can get a bit crazy into the evenings… fantastic sunset views to boot
5. Corner of 10th St & west 4th St in the west village (yes both streets, love the proper village vibe in this area!) just a block down from the apt I call home in nyc, 4 bar/restaurants right on that corner with good looking young people… been know as my gf’s and my “local” – plenty of cafes/restaurants/bars all throughout the area between there and the meat packing districts, many with either opened up walls/windows, streetside tables, back gardens etc
6. Soho park, great little place with well priced wine, sit in the tiny garden area and put your feet up after hours of soho wandering and shopping! (get your daily dose of greens with their chicago style fried zucchini stix)
7. Oh cannot forget about stone street in the business district, busy most nights but likely wed & thurs are your best bets for suited man watching – bars line both sides of the picnic table filled cobblestone street – the Mexican place is know to do some of the best gauc in the city
8. Shake shack, a nyc staple, there’s a bunch of these throughout the city but the main attraction would be the one in Madison square park, outdoor seating and great people watching – good tie on for shopping in the flat iron district
9. Back again at the meatpacking district, the well-known brasserie Pastis attracts a very international crowd: cannot go wrong with fab french fair paired with curbside & starstudded ‘hidden-behind sunglasses’ celeb spotting
…more? of course! share your favourite places with us too!
now time to get out & play xx

When dressing up, give your handbag the spotlight and an opportunity to shine and it will! (not in a bling bling manner of course). While many gals love to accessories with jewelry, hats, hair accessories, and shoes, many of them overlook the power an accessory that a handbag or purse can make.
You can have the greatest looking straw hat sitting in the closet, but at the end of the day, it is your purse that goes everywhere with you. A great sunhat paired with an s0-so purse may not get you to Bryant Park.
Have a look at exhibit A, Natalie Off Duty here. Does her Babette in maple stand out or what.
I'd be scared if I was that pair of sunglasses.

Summer is the season to kick, back, relax, and enjoy the weather. By this time, I am sure some (including myself) have forgotten/ given up on their new years resolution plan. Take advantage of the low key season to get back on track with your goals and plans.
Earlier this year I had planned on shopping sustainable for a change. Well, surprise surprise I finally found the incredible, Sustainable NYC store. They carry cool stuff like: Recycled tin maple syrup candle and recycled chain bottle opener. I think I have found myself a new favorite store. It feels amazing to follow through with your plans and I encourage everyone to do the same!

There is a certain thrill you get from being an early adopter. Hence when I found out through Daily Candy about the recent opening of Victory Garden, their super cute website quickly sent me down to West Village to be one of the first people to try the infamous goat milk frozen yogurt!
Opening only just last Friday, their unique flavors such as rose & mastic (tree resin from pine tree in Greece!) surely cannot be found elsewhere. To my surprise, the frozen yogurt was really light and does not have a strong odor to it like goat cheese does.
…on a similar note while obviously having cool iced treats filling my brain these days, I am probably a late adopter to the Pop Bar ( of Gilt City’s “Unique Sweets” tour). Hello clever invention and good looking fro yo popsicles! Where have I been all this time!? The store also makes your design tastebuds go ohh lala- refer to photos. I cannot say enough of this place. One must go check it out! Super cool store!

So with bikini season approaching very fast I came across these excellent classes that are getting rid of the extra winter baggage…
Word on the street is that this Core Fusion programs beats all others around with their modern ballet infused aerobics PLUS the bonus toosh clencher is that the instructor on Friday mornings at their Gansevoort Meat Packing location looks, sounds and acts just like Matthew McConaughey! Maybe even a little better looking, if that’s even possible.

As I was strolling down the sunny streets of the Manhattan’s West Village, the window display at this trendy boutique stopped me in my tracks! It was first the Brasilian melissa shoes that caught my eye, then realized the entire store was full of very hard-to-find international designers for both, men and women. The fresh environment & chats with the Italian owner left me energized for the rest of my evening!

If you love life’s random coincidences as much as I do, get a kick out of this one:
Met with the lovely Robyn & Mauricio of Shine PR yesterday afternoon and as Mauricio is flipping through our autumn2011 catalogue his gaze is caught by one of the photo’s… then he flips through his iPhone and shows me the identical bench – but the photo is taken in a Mexico City park across the street from his home in 1982. How cute!!!

I realize it has been awhile since my last post, and though I make no excuses I will mention that I was in a haze of graduation and holiday manic/bliss. But here we are now – new year, new day and new post! I love the start of a new year, or any new beginning really, where everything seems like a possibility, and time is on your side. Here are a few of the things I am most excited for this year…
Lots of pop-culturey things…
- Harry Potter & The Deathly Hollows P.II: how can you NOT get swept up in the mythical land of HP and his mates?
- Twilight – Breaking Dawn: How much paler can they really make K-Stew?
- A new Justin Timberlake album: VERY exciting. I swear the man can do no wrong.
- LC’s new reality show: Cue the rolling eyes. Don’t hate – we’ve already established I’m a fan see Guilty Pleasure: Lauren Conrad.
Some techy things…
- Blackberry Playbook: I don’t know that I actually NEED it, but I know that I want it and it appears to have a lot more features than the iPad. Plus I hear it’s under $500!
- XBOX kinect: I want to be the controller so badly! This is a must buy for me this year.
Some fashion related things…
- Printed EVERYTHING: Prints are gearing up to be huge this spring/summer and I could not be more excited. This year is going to be bigger, louder, and more playful and expressive than ever.
- A New York City trip: I’ve been dying to take a trip to the big apple for YEARS. And with my mom’s continuous hints about it being my grad prezzie I’m already planning our day-by-day itinerary.
- The Sienna Ray fall.winter collection. Seriously. From what I’ve seen thus far it looks AMAZEBALLS. You guys are going to LOVE it!
What does your list include?

While the notorious Hills starlet has been absent from the small screen, she’s still been on our radar with her juicy L.A. Candy book series. Centered around the chronicles of one girl’s drama-filled adventures on a glossy docu-soap (ringing any bells?) the books have proven to be irresistible guilty pleasures. The final book in the series hit stores recently and there’s a bittersweet excitement to devour the last installment. Also available this month is Lauren Conrad Style - a breezy fashion guide that encapsulates the California native’s girlie, relaxed, cool style.
Now I realize many fashion followers, bloggers and other industry insiders (including friends of mine!) brush Conrad off as nothing more than a ex-MTV reality star with no place in fashion, I dare to disagree! With two extremely lucrative careers, as an author and clothing designer - the girl has a lot going for her! Plus she basically redefined the California Cool style that is so often associated with her name. I admit that she’s not likely to ever be a revolutionary designer, or the style maven of our time, but I can’t help but love that quality of realness she’s been able to maintain ever since the early days of Laguna Beach.
Even though she has a wardrobe to die for, an enviable amount of wealth, and a super cute boyfriend I can’t help but maintain the fact that Lauren is relatable (I’m sure if we met we’d be BFF’s) and has carved out a successful career path for herself. So Lauren Conrad is our guilty pleasure for her fab little novels, fresh style, and perception of best friendability.

I’m Amanda Gangoso, a Freelance Makeup Artist also working at City TV on Breakfast Television. I was born and raised Edmonton and moved to Vancouver in 1999.
My time in beautiful BC have consisted of years in hospitality and attending Blanche Macdonald, graduating in 2004 with a diploma in makeup artistry. In between the bartending, school and freelancing, I’ve had wonderful travel/living experiences in Japan, Australia, Philppines to name a few.
I had the privelage of meeting Natalie at an event, Girls Night Out at Milestones, along with the ladies from Wishlist Boutique. I fell in love with Natalie’s designs. We have since worked together on the Sienna Ray Fall/Winter photoshoot. So fun!
I’m so happy to now have a Prima bag of my own. The leather feels amazing, the color is this awesome eggplant/chocolate brown depending on the light, and it’s big enough to carry everything, including my makeup brushes, laptop and all!

We are proud to celebrate Canada Day with the anouncemnt of the newest Sienna Ray icons: the historic inspiration for our upcoming Spring 2011 collection and the dominating & athletic superwoman of the future.
And what brings these two exceptional woman side by side…. their natural love and talent for swimming, their pride in making all aspects of life a true storybook success, as well as being know for “cheesecake photo’s, flashing big smiles and lots of leg.”*
It is so impressive to follow such inner & outer beauties through their journeys in life.
Ester’s competitive swimming career was halted by the war, yet she drove through such an obstacle by opening her own doors, creating “swimming” entertainment in the theatre to keep spirits high through the tough times, naturally leading her to a exuberant career in the movie industry.
Annamay Pierse’s journey is only just starting, but with such an overwhelming energy she will continue to grow and outperform her current world record in the 200m breastroke. She holds such a strong confidence and character, her teammates instinctively gain motivation from her presense and poise. Genuinely thrilled to have brought her competition level to where it is, this is still not good enough for Annamy who is constantly reaching out to charity events, volunteering her time and presenting the opporunity for others to fall in her footsteps and follow their dreams. Who knows what all Annamay will achieve, I even hear a rumour that fashion is in her future…
Keep your eye’s peeled for more news on Sienna Ray’s much anticipated photoshoot - and – for Ms Pierse in front of the paparazzi, not only her newest World Record’s but also for her representation of Sienna Ray handbags! See her below, bottom left, in Monte Carlo in front of Casino Royale clutching the tuxedo mak.

For most of us it’s that “in-between” season: that little bit too warm to wear your winter coat but a tad bit on the chilly side to get the legs out on show.
And I don’t know about you, but I cringe at the feeling and sight of good ole’ fashion neutral coloured pantyhouse…. do you grin and bare the goosebumps on your pasty winterized legs – or – grow your patience and wait for the true summertime heat?
Solution: founded by Jessica Halabi of Edmonton (who must know what real patience is when it snowed nearby just last week, ouch!) who created the hand splatter painted nude tight, oh so sexy!!
Cannot imagine how she paints these – are her legs stained with the backsplash hue of paints… but nonetheless I so want a pair, and only $20 for such a wearable original piece of art!

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past couple of months, you have had Lady Gaga ft Beyonce – “Telephone” stuck in your head once or twice, or at least heard it. Now with the infamous music video, you can’t picture anyone but Lady Gaga and Beyonce along with their million costume changes, singing that song. However, it may not have happened at all. This week, a demo version of Britney Spears singing “Telephone”, the song was originally written for her, was leaked onto the internet. It could have been the comeback Britney was looking for, but she apparently couldn’t see what we all see now, a great hit. Click the links below to compare the two or just relive the epic music video that is “Telephone”.

The Canucks have moved onto Round 2 of the playoffs and set are set to take on the Chicago Blackhawks. It seems as though more and more people are getting into the playoff mood, even the Lion Gate Bridge. Yesterday, as the hundreds of cars crossed over the bridge, they were greeted by the lions, in uniform. Hopefully, they will be sporting the jerseys for longer than a week so we can relive the Olympics one more it.

It is that time again – spent sunday dispersing clothes ALL over my apartment: this pile “goodbye til next winter”, that pile “maybe it just needs a bit of an alteration so that I wear it more often…”, and the one way over there “good & done, memories are all is left with these pieces worn to extinction!”
Every item has it’s own unique lifespan… as much as I will myself to invent that magic potion keeping puppie dogs cute and puppy-like thier whole lifespan, I wish I could spread magic fairy dust over my favourite tops to keep them looking pristine and fresh forever. But sadly the relization is that neither are true nor coming to life any day too soon.
So divide & conquer, set aside the favourite cooler weather clothes for hopes of a fresh feeling when I pull them out next year and hit the streets to come up with a few new items to mix in and spruce up last years springtime favourites. To my delight (and not my visa’s delight…) I had quite the success in Club Monico. A hit and miss store for me, this time around the flowy silks & buttery jerseys were a done deal: it did take me to try on the ENTIRE store, my new favourite personal shopper there will vouch for me!

It seems as though everything in the fashion world makes a comeback including the fanny pack. The fanny pack has always been practical, it can hold all your precious belongings while leaving your hands free to do as the please without having to worry about everything falling out. The downfall of the fanny pack was style component which it lacked and some how always made you look like a tourist.
A few brave designers have decided to reintroduce the accessory and stage its comeback and it seems to be working. Many designers have decided to come out with their versions of the ‘belt bag’ including Gucci, Fendi and L.A.M.B., and they have added the key element that was missing: Style. This time around they are sleek and made of higher quality fabrics, so before you go digging through your closet looking for your old fanny pack, take a look at some of the newer versions.

I’ve been asking around for a while now and the local Vancouverite seem to be quite hush hush on their exclusive choice of hair stylists…. so with my go-to hair guru being just outside the city limits and an out of the blue saturday urge to glam up my tresses – I did one of the scariest things in beauty history: called up the salon across the street and booked in with whomever had a 5pm opening!
Hours later I was sipping on my latte, patiently awaiting an introduction from said stylist (meanwhile catching quick gazes over my magazine at all the pros around the room, worrying who my potential hair queen/butcher could be…) and then happily surprised to see a warm smile and a fashion savvy young Melissa escort me to her chair.
The necessary intro small talk started and within minutes the fear jumped back “so, this weekend I have plenty to celebrate” she says while orgasmically massaging my scalp, “it’s my first full week at the salon”. Point blank: fear.
Whether is was her intuition or my easily readable face, she quickly summed up her story about being brought out West via a glorified scholarship with the Aveda Institute – through an obviously highly rewarded and very successful win at a national hair stylist competition. Her week at Axis being small peanuts compared to her years at Vault Salon in Winnipeg.
All in all, congratulations once again Melissa on the opportunity to come out to Vancouver, to strengthen her already impressive styling talent, and of course for such an amazing new look that I am showing off head high and proud!
You can find Melissa @ Axis Salon on Georgia in downtown Vancouver. 1111 West Georgia Street, 604-685-0200.
p.s. I also received a quick lesson in curling my hair with a straightening iron – wow – already success twice this week; takes so much less time than with a curling iron and gives that so “not trying too hard” look that I love!
