We’re all a fan of being comfortable and looking fabulous at the same time. Toms brand has definitely mastered the art of combining both. Their first collection of ballet flats are set to be released spring 2012. They are to be sold at an upscale line at Neiman Marcus for about $125, and a core collection for other retailers, which will retail between $74 and $79. Here are pictures of the already- coveted shoes.

Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) was originally conceived by Anna Wintour in 2008. For me, FNO is like a city wide fashion show that is open to the public. Designers and important people in the fashion industry make appearances at retail stores that are showing their latest fashion. FNO is definitely a love child of fashion and fun.
To list a couple of my favorite in store events on 10/8…
Phillip Lim boutique will be transformed into a ‘Girls on Bikes stop’ in the vein of a truck stop but for chic girls around town who ride bikes! 6pm – 11pm
Oscar de la renta will have a special FNO collection available online

Pop up stores and businesses like Cool Haus has taken retailing to the next level. This weekend while in Soho, I stumbled upon the 83 Anomaly, an installation disguised truck that houses Convoluted Construct, a line of art inspired graphic tees. Now next time you go shopping, would you rather make it an experiential one, or would you rather visit a traditional store.
the interior looks even more amazing

part#2: shop, shop, SHOPPING!
1. Soho: by far the best selection and ambiance, everything from highstreet brands to designer labels, my fav places are between 7th & broadway / houston & grand
got a thing chuck taylor's? check out the converse store in SoHo
2. Flatiron district: amazing homewear stores and large versions of your typical zara/bcbg type stores
3. Upper east & 5th ave: I group these two even though they are quite different – I’d power through in a day and spend more time downtown – must see on 5th is Henry Bendel’s and up east for the athletic types I adore eveythjng in the cute track & field boutique from brazil
4. Day trip: for serious “while we are in the USA” shopping, head to port authority bus station and in less than an hour you’ll be at jersey park mall… Can easily blow a whole day and a fair bit of cash – but in return it’s sweetest ever deals and actually a quality selection, off 5th (SAKS discount) is a must visit
"shopping is my cardio"
5. Bleeker street boutiques, between, famous magnoila’s bakery (supposedly the ones who started the current cupcake craze), designer and higher-end branded stores, I have spent a few shopping trips in NARS, Fresh, intermix, MAC, 7 jeans and london’s Reiss to say a few…
...great starting location!

Summer is the season to kick, back, relax, and enjoy the weather. By this time, I am sure some (including myself) have forgotten/ given up on their new years resolution plan. Take advantage of the low key season to get back on track with your goals and plans.
Earlier this year I had planned on shopping sustainable for a change. Well, surprise surprise I finally found the incredible, Sustainable NYC store. They carry cool stuff like: Recycled tin maple syrup candle and recycled chain bottle opener. I think I have found myself a new favorite store. It feels amazing to follow through with your plans and I encourage everyone to do the same!

As I was strolling down the sunny streets of the Manhattan’s West Village, the window display at this trendy boutique stopped me in my tracks! It was first the Brasilian melissa shoes that caught my eye, then realized the entire store was full of very hard-to-find international designers for both, men and women. The fresh environment & chats with the Italian owner left me energized for the rest of my evening!
(the melissa shoes are in the back...)
Selection of designers available at Nida include: Jamin Puech, Szen, Traits, and Maloles.

I live by the motto that it’s never to early to start getting in the Christmas shopping spirit. Whether shopping for gifts or the perfect party dress, come Nov. 1 I’ve got shopping on the brain (even more than usual!).
The first shopping event to kick-off the festive season is the Gastown Shophop this upcoming Thursday. Nov. 4th from 5-9 pm. It’s a great opportunity to explore the ever growing number of boutiques in the neighborhood and take advantage of special 1-night-only discounts. Sips and sweets provided by most shops are reason enough to come down and check it out! Participating boutiques will have big red bows attached to their storefronts so you won’t be able to miss ‘em!
Enjoy the generous deals and complimentary cheer – see you there!
PS – If your looking for SR bags be sure to stop by One of a Few and Holly
PPS – If your looking for ME be sure to stop in at Ishara!

For most of us it’s that “in-between” season: that little bit too warm to wear your winter coat but a tad bit on the chilly side to get the legs out on show.
And I don’t know about you, but I cringe at the feeling and sight of good ole’ fashion neutral coloured pantyhouse…. do you grin and bare the goosebumps on your pasty winterized legs – or – grow your patience and wait for the true summertime heat?
Solution: founded by Jessica Halabi of Edmonton (who must know what real patience is when it snowed nearby just last week, ouch!) who created the hand splatter painted nude tight, oh so sexy!!
Cannot imagine how she paints these – are her legs stained with the backsplash hue of paints… but nonetheless I so want a pair, and only $20 for such a wearable original piece of art!
Available @ The Bamboo Ballroom, 8206-104 Street Edmonton, Alberta, 780-439-1363, bambooballroom.ca

It is that time again – spent sunday dispersing clothes ALL over my apartment: this pile “goodbye til next winter”, that pile “maybe it just needs a bit of an alteration so that I wear it more often…”, and the one way over there “good & done, memories are all is left with these pieces worn to extinction!”
Every item has it’s own unique lifespan… as much as I will myself to invent that magic potion keeping puppie dogs cute and puppy-like thier whole lifespan, I wish I could spread magic fairy dust over my favourite tops to keep them looking pristine and fresh forever. But sadly the relization is that neither are true nor coming to life any day too soon.
So divide & conquer, set aside the favourite cooler weather clothes for hopes of a fresh feeling when I pull them out next year and hit the streets to come up with a few new items to mix in and spruce up last years springtime favourites. To my delight (and not my visa’s delight…) I had quite the success in Club Monico. A hit and miss store for me, this time around the flowy silks & buttery jerseys were a done deal: it did take me to try on the ENTIRE store, my new favourite personal shopper there will vouch for me!

p.s. if you are in Vancouver, they still have a few of their lucious cashmere scarfs left upstairs in their discount paradise….

Oh what to do with friends and family in town?
There’s the mainstream traditional: Whistler, Granville Island, Grouse Mountain – maybe even Capilano Suspension Bridge… all of which are fabulous but can get a touch mundane time after time.
Hence my newest discovery – and I cannot believe it took me so long to find this gem – of the port town of Steveston. A super quant fishing village bustling with cafe’s and cute-sie little boutiques. I hear the views on a sunshiny day are amazing but to our happy surprise the gloomy drizzly day actually added to the historic atmosphere.
We strolled around, taking in the sights while slowly gaining bags of goodies:
Racks & Racks of cards, candles, & LUG travel goods & great gift ideas @ Pieces.
More cards, notebooks & wonderful selection of tea leaves and pots @ Nikaido Gifts.
favourite purchase: mini glass teapot which goes beautifully with bodum glasses!
Then to rest our feet (and our credit cards) we chilled for a while over the most unique Thai inspired seafood dishes. I was craving a warm bowl of chowder and much to my delight, their Pacific Seafood Chowder blew my expectations. The secret ingredient was Torogashi spice – one I will now keep my eye out for.

Kiss & Makeup's beautiful new space
What success: doubling their store front and interior space, Kiss & Makeup exudes that business is good, even great!
It’s no wonder as they only stock the most luscious of makeup and accessories – and, as rumour has it, more and more clothing will fill the racks as well. Good news all around.
On a sunny day like today I am easily tempted to hit up the cute meandering sidewalks of The Village at Park Royal to get my shopping fix, it’s just what our city needs more of! Did you know they even have little umbrella stands scattered throughout the street… perfect for the not-so-gorgeous days when a Vancouver umbrella is a must, but so annoying to drag sopping wet in and out of your car. I’m sure for the local North Shore crowd The Village is already in the everyday shopping agenda and for those of you living downtown or in the fraser valley, make a trip over, you’ll be very happy you did.
Kiss & Makeup is currently sold out of their Summer 09 Sienna Ray & Co. bags & belts so get there in early September and you’ll find an even larger selection of the hot new fall09 lineup – but they wont last long with all the extra “bigger store” buzz about town…
Kiss & Makeup is located at 929 Main Street, Park Royal, West Vancouver; phone (604) 922-6292: www.kissandmakeup.ca
